Another highlight of the Oktoberfest is the annual traditional costume parade. It is considered one of the world’s largest parades of its kind and is also led by the Münchner Kindl. This parade stretches from the Maximilianeum over a 7-kilometer route to the festival meadows and takes place on the first Sunday of the Oktoberfest.

So what could be more inviting than a hearty beer from one of Munich’s breweries and a Bavarian specialty to go with it?
In the Schützenzelt, for example, most of the time nothing is moving by midday. So if you want to get a seat here, you should do so quite early in the morning. At lunchtime, the cozy Mittagswiesn starts here and you get a suckling pig in real Bavarian style with malt beer sauce and coleslaw.
